We love this place. There are two places to park: by the visitor's center and start the 1 mile trek to the top and the upper parking lot which is 0.3 miles to the top. It has great views and a very defined trails. Just watch your step coming down!

Last year while pregnant, I trekked from bottom to top to bottom in hopes of naturally inducing labor. It totally worked. My baby was born the next day. All the cool pregnant Atlanta moms are doing it.

Oh, yeah... and it's free! Free parking and free entry. Can't beat that.

My go to place to do longer hikes in Atlanta. You can do a full loop at around 16 miles and not see the same thing twice really but there are shorter loops of course as well. Parking is sometimes scarce as it can be crowded on weekends even early but once you get away from the parking lots it clears out. You will still pass someone about every 5 minutes or so no matter where you are. The trails are clearly marked. I see dear often here. The yellow loop has horse scat about so be aware of that.
